Commodity Supplemental Food Program

A program to encourage proper nutrition. Food items are distributed to income-eligible, elderly clients over 60, infants and children to age 6, and pregnant, breast feeding and post-partum women at monthly clinics.

Community Food Pantry - The Salvation Army

Community food pantry location and provision of groceries to Hall County residents in need. The pantry mainly serves those of lower income, but will not turn anyone down who has a legitimate need.

This is the agency in the government that administers the Food Stamp program. Learn about eligibility requirements and use their online pre-screening tool. Or call their toll-free number 24 hours a day and find out your state’s toll-free food stamp phone number, or leave your mailing address the federal office will mail you informational brochures. This site is available in multiple languages.

Financial assistance for low-income people to help them meet their basic needs. Food Programs available to provide for the nutritional needs of low-income households. Food Stamps provides a debit card to be spent like money for food products. Walk-ins accepted, appointment preferred. Written application required.

Heartland Share - Grand Island Generation Center

Heartland S.H.A.R.E. (Self-Help And Resource Exchange) can help provide a monthly basic supplemental food package to families in exchange for a reduced cost, and a commitment to fulfill volunteer service in the community. This program is open to anyone willing to give back a small part of their time.

Meals on Wheels (national office)

The Meals on Wheels program is designed to make sure that homebound individuals get at least one nutritious meal a day. Most meal deliverers are trained to recognize symptoms of problems, thus meal delivery offers some reassurance that an objective third party is touching base each day. Find out about the program closest to your care receiver.

      Program operated by Senior Citizen Industries, Inc. Hot meals delivered to the homebound elderly five days a week (within city limits). Also available is a supplemental sack lunch or a frozen meal that could be used as an evening meal or for the weekend.
